Virtual Doctors available to Keller ISD students

Students at 5 Keller ISD schools now have access to virtual doctors according to NBC/DFW. This new opportunity for the students is part of a pilot program with Cook Children’s Hospital. While no student will be required to participate, Doctors will be able to diagnose certain ailments via online video connection as well as prescribe medicine. The students will connect to the Doctor with the assistance of the school nurse.

It is important to note that family insurance plans do not cover the online visits. However, Medicaid does. The first schools to adopt the program are Fossil Ridge High School, Fossil Middle School, North Riverside Parkway, and Heritage Elementary Schools.

What do you think?

What do you think about this opportunity for Keller ISD students? Is medication something that should be prescribed online? Not everyone will be interested in the program and it is important to note that it is not mandated in any way for students. However it does provide convenience to busy students who may otherwise not have a lot of time to see a physician. Leave comments below to let us know what you think.
