Birdville ISD (BISD) is one of the largest school districts in Northeast Tarrant County. It holds more than 22,000 students. Birdville ISD operates 33 campuses that span different cities including Richland Hills and parts of North Richland Hills, Watauga, Hurst, Haltom City, Fort Worth, and Colleyville. Of the 33 campuses in operation, 21 are elementary schools, seven are middle schools, three are high schools and two are alternative campuses. BISD is noted for its financial responsibility and transparency. Birdville ISD has received the prestigious 2014 Platinum Leadership Circle award which is the highest level awarded to local government entities for financial transparency. The district maintains this transparency while still excelling in its academic performance. The Education Resource Group recognized BISD as a top ten school district in the entire state of Texas. As of 2014, the tax rate of the district is $1.435 per $100 according to Tarrant County’s budget information.
